About our Fabrics - Lakeside Linens

Fabrics

We use Zweigart®, Graziano® and Legacy/Dower® linens as our base fabrics. Our fabrics are hand-dyed with dyes made specifically for the textile industry. Please note that some shrinkage may occur during processing, particularly with the Graziano and Legacy based fabrics so all sizes given are approximate.[Color Swatches]

Hand-Dyed Zweigart® Linens
Our Zweigart® linens are available in both "Regular" and "Vintage" with the exception of Attic Lace (suggested substitute is Magnolia) and Black Forest. Vintage is great for reproduction samplers as it is much more distressed and there may be color separation due to different properties of each dye used. As each piece of vintage is unique, the image should only be considered representative of what you will receive. Vintage does require more time to produce, so please allow an additional 2-3 weeks for delivery.

Zweigart® fabrics are available in stitcher's halves (approx. 27" x 36" before processing) and stitcher's quarters (approx. 27" x 18" before processing).

All colors are available in 10, 19, 25, 28, 32, 36 and 40 counts. Please note: The count will affect the color - generally the higher count fabrics will be slightly lighter in color. [Color Swatches]

Hand-Dyed Graziano® Linens
Graziano linens have plump fabric threads and are wonderfully soft. Designer requests have encouraged us to begin dyeing Graziano linen in the same colors as our Zweigart linens. We try to make the colors as close to our swatches of Zweigart linens as possible. There will be slight difference as the base color and weight of the Graziano linens differs from that of the Zweigart linens.

Graziano linens have a limited color selection and are only available in stitcher's halves (approx. 36" x 36" before processing). Vintage not available.

All colors are available in 40 and 45 counts. Please note: The count will affect the color - generally higher count fabrics will be slightly lighter in color. [Color Swatches]

Hand-Dyed Legacy/Dower® Linens
Designer requests for an even finer count linen resulted in us using this fabric as a new base. This is approximately a 48 count. We try to make the colors as close to our swatches of Zweigart linens as possible. There will be slight difference as the base color and weight of the Legacy linens differs from that of the Zweigart linens.

This line is currently available in stitcher's halves (approx. 36" x 36" before processing). We hope to be adding more colors and counts of these beautiful fabrics soon. Vintage not available. [Color Swatches]

About the Dyes and Dye Lots
Our fabrics are dyed with fiber-reactive dyes that have been used in the textile industry for over 40 years. Fiber-reactive dyes bond with the fabric during the dyeing process. The resulting fabric is extremely color-fast and light-fast.

Although we follow the same dyeing procedure every time and are quite obsessive about accurate measurements, timing and temperature please note that there are a number of variables beyond our control that can result in variations in color and mottling between dye lots. These variables include water conditions and different dye lots from both the fabric manufacturer and dye distributor. Due to these variables we regret that we cannot guarantee the consistency of dye lots nor the degree of distress or mottling. We appreciate your understanding and suggest that if you plan to stitch any "companion" pieces that you purchase all the needed fabric at the same time.

Washing Guidelines
We recommended hand-washing your linens in a basin of warm water containing a small amount of Orvus® detergent. Rinse thoroughly, line dry and press with a hot iron. Note: Be sure your threads are washable if you intend to wash your projects!
